Children can start at GAP any time between their third and sixth birthdays. Here is how the enrolment process works.
Step 1: Apply for a place
To apply for a place at the GAP, you can either fill in the form at the registration link below or send an email to email@example.com with your child’s name, date of birth, their level of German knowledge, your phone number and email.
The earlier you apply, the better, as places are decided on date and our language priority ratings (details below).
There is no charge to be on our waiting list.
Step 2: Apply for a CRN (for the childcare subsidy)
To find out if you are eligible for the Australian government’s childcare subsidy and to apply for a CRN for yourself and your child, visit the myGov website.
If your child is German-speaking and you are visiting, studying or working in Australia temporarily, ask us about our international student rates.
Step 3: Visit the GAP to see us in action
Please organise to come in and visit the GAP to see us in action, in a Schnuppertag. We recommend you do this no more than 3 months in advance of when you would like your child to start. You can email our lovely Director on firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a date.
Step 4: Wait to hear if there is a place available
You should receive an email reply to confirm we have received your application, within one or two days (slightly longer in the term breaks and summer holidays). In the unlikely event that you don’t hear from us, please contact us again.
Once we can place your child in our class lists, we will send you an Offer of Place by email.
If there is no place available, or if you have applied for a future year, we will put you on the waiting list.
Remember that children need to be toilet trained (out of nappies) when they attend the GAP. You can certainly still apply for a place prior to your child being toilet trained, however! We keep waiting lists three or four years in advance.
Received an Offer of Place email?
Once you receive your Offer of Place, email us right away to confirm you would like the place. Then visit our Terms and Conditions of Enrolment page, to find out how to pay your deposit and your fees, how to activate your membership, and when your enrolment forms are due, etc.
When will we know if we have a place?
For mid-year starters, offers don’t usually go out any earlier than 6 weeks prior to the child’s start date.
Offers of place for the new school year (starting in February) usually go out in October of the previous year. It is good to check back with us about your enrolment around that time.
