Our Classes

Our wonderful playschool classes

In 2026 we offer two bilingual classes: Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday class: Our play-based educational program is taught in German and English. Both classes are open for anyone aged 3 to 5. The teachers use as much German as possible*. Children enrol to attend 2 or 4 days a week.

GAP is not only about the German language but also about German/Austrian/Swiss customs and culture. Our program is also heavily influenced by the children’s interests.
We believe in the benefits of nature play, we are “keen to be green” and we encourage healthy eating.

For example, when we are talking about fruit, we play fruit memory , sing a song about about an apple, cut apples to see the pips within the apple, make fruit salad and eat it. We put the peels and cores into the compost bin. All in German.

We believe that songs are a very good way to learn a language. That’s why we sing a lot. (And because it is fun!) Repetition is the key. And if there is movement involved, it is even better.

Does my child need to be toilet trained?  We strongly encourage children to be out of nappies during the day in order to start at the GAP.

*While we recognise that language teaching is important, building secure and loving relationships with the children is paramount, so from time to time (particularly during the settling in period or if an English-speaking child is upset), teachers switch to English.
